Our Declaration of Faith

THE HOLY TRINITY

We believe in one living and true God, eternal and of infinite power, wisdom, goodness and righteousness. He is a faithful God who is the Creator and Preserver of all things. In the unity of this Godhead there are three persons of one substance with identical qualities and attributes: The  Father (God), the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1, Jeremiah 10:10, 1 Timothy 1:17, John 1:1, 2; 5:18; 10:30

God the Father

We believe that God is One, eternally expressed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy  Spirit. He is the creator of everything that exists but was Himself not created by anyone. He is  the source of all that is good, the master of all creation, and the perfect, holy, and righteous judge  of all the free creatures He has made. Besides Him there is no other god in heaven or earth  John 14:9-16, Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:33, 1 John 5:6-8, Rom. 1:20, Col 2:9

Jesus His Son

We believe in the divine nature of Jesus Christ, God's only Son, who was conceived by the  power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. Christ was both fully man and fully God.  He walked our earth, suffered at the hands of men, was crucified, died and buried as a sacrifice  for the sins of all men and women everywhere. His purpose was to restore our relationship to  God which was broken by sin (disobedience). Christ rose from the dead and ascended into  heaven in full victory over Satan and sin. He now intercedes for the body of believers to God the  Father.

Luke 1:27, 31, 35; 24;4-7, John 3:16; Romans 5:10, Eph. 5:2, Matt. 8:5-9

Besides Him there is no other god in heaven or earth  John 14:9-16,Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:33, 1 John 5:6-8, Rom. 1:20, Col 2:9

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit as the person of the Holy Trinity who lives within us, giving us the power to live a holy life and guiding us to truth.

Romans 8:9, Galatians 4:6

We believe in the deity and person-hood of the Holy Spirit. He proceeds from the Father and the Son and works actively as God's agent on the earth today. His mission is to convict the world of sin, create and secure believers in Christ, and empower God's Church to grow in grace and  manifest God's Kingdom on the earth.

We believe all the gifts and miraculous works of the Holy Spirit are available to God's people and that each believer has been given at least one spiritual gift for ministry to others in the local church.

John 14: 16-26; Luke 1:35, Rom. 12:4-13, 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 1 Peter 4:11-12

THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE

We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments combined constitute the Holy Bible; no books may be added or deleted. The Holy Bible is inspired and inerrant (that is, without error or failure of basic contents and meaning in the original manuscripts). The Holy Bible contains all the necessary truth to lead men and women into salvation.  Psalm 19:7, John 17:17, Romans 15:4, 1 Thess 2:13, 2 Tim 3:15-17, Gen.1:27

We believe that the Holy Bible (39 books of the O.T. and 27 books of the N.T.) is the only inspired, unfailing and complete written Word of God. It is the revelation of God's plan for man. People are born again through hearing and believing the message of the Bible. God's Word is the primary sacrament God has provided for the perfecting and maturing of His children.  2 Peter 1:21, 1 Peter 1:23-2:2, John 17:17

MAN

We believe that mankind was created by God, in His own image, but because of Adam's sin (disobedience) man inherits a corrupt nature that inclines him to do wrong. Man cannot save himself by his own will or works.

Genesis 1:27; 3:6; 6:5, Romans 5:12

We believe that all people were made in the image of God, but through sin have been separated from God and fallen into moral darkness and the dominion of God's adversary, the devil. Our sin has rendered humanity a race of spiritual rebels deserving nothing but God's everlasting wrath.  Fallen people, left to themselves and without God's help, would not seek for God, die in sin, and perish eternally.

Rom. 3:9-12, Eph. 2:1-3

SALVATION

We believe that Jesus Christ, the living Son of God, was given by God as a sacrifice for the sins of all men. Christ died on the cross to mend the relationship between God and man which had been broken by man's sin of disobedience. Belief and faith in Jesus Christ, recognizing Him as  Lord and Savior, gives men and women the free gift of eternal life.

John 1:29; 3:16, 1 Corinthians 5:7, Ephesians 5:2, 1 Peter 1:19

We believe that God, who is rich in mercy, has chosen from eternity to restore fallen humanity to Himself by providing salvation for all through faith in the sacrifice of His own Son. God gave Jesus to die for our sins and shed His blood as full payment for the sins of the human race. God  calls people to Himself through the preaching of the Gospel, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the gift of His Grace.

No one can take credit in any way for his own salvation. It is true, from first to last, the gift of  God (Eph. 2:4-10, 1 Tim. 4:10, Rom. 1:12, John 6:37-40). We believe that a person is saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone, and not by his own works or efforts.

GOOD WORKS

We believe that even though men and women cannot receive salvation by good works, they are still pleasing to God and show evidence of a true faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of their life.  Matthew 5:16; 7:16-20, Romans 3:20, Galatians 2:16, James 2:18, 22

SANCTIFICATION

We believe that entire sanctification is the work of God and the power of the Holy Spirit making the believer pure in heart and totally committed and dedicated to God. This work is both instantaneous and gradual (or progressive). It begins when a person is saved and continues throughout life. But there is a second definite work of grace after salvation, a time when the  believer is convicted of a "lukewarm Christian life" and looks to Christ with a total commitment and dedication to "Christ-like" living. There is no black-and-white time line.

We believe that all God's children are called to a lifelong process of transformation called sanctification by renewing their minds and yielding their bodies as instruments of righteousness unto God. When believers are born again, they are instantly made new. However, the mind and the body are left largely unchanged by the salvation experience. The mind must be renewed and the body must be subdued. This process is accompanied by regularly feeding the human heart with the anointed teaching and preaching of God's Word, by individual Bible study and meditation; by personal fellowship with the Lord in worship and prayer; and by consciously making daily decisions to discipline the body. The process continues through the believer's entire life and is brought to completion upon the Lord's return
(Romans 12:1-2, 1 Peter 1:13, 1

Peter 2:2).

GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit has given spiritual gifts to all believers for the purpose of building up the body of Christ and bringing glory to God. The gifts are to be exercised in love and emphasize the need for unity. The unity of the body of Christ is of utmost importance. 1 Corinthians 2:4, 11, 18, 21•25, Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Corinthians 12:1-14:40

SACRAMENTS

We believe that God ordained two sacraments: The Lord's Supper and Baptism. The Lord's Supper is received in remembrance of Christ's death for our sins; the bread representing His body and the wine, His blood. It is in remembrance of God's love and grace toward us and the love we must share with one another. Baptism is an outward symbolic act signifying salvation and cleansing of sin.

Num. 8:7, Mark 14:22-24; 16:16, Acts 22:26, Matt. 26:26-28, 1 Cor. 10:16

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe that those who have not accepted Christ as their personal Savior, and are unrepentant, will be judged by God in His perfect justice and doomed to eternal punishment. We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ to receive His believers into heaven and eternal life. The time of His return is unknown but may be at any moment. This is the glorious hope of all God's Children.

John 14:1-3, 1 Thessalonians, James 5:7-8, Revelation 22:12, 20,

Ecclesiastes 12:14, Matthew 25:31-46, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 2:16
